Natural Perfumes

Over the past decade, Nicolas de Barry has dedicated himself entirely to the composition of perfumes that are entirely and authentically natural.

For the lovers of high quality natural products, Nicolas de Barry has composed perfumes that are 100% natural. He has travelled the world to choose his raw materials to ensure that only the highest quality and the rarest essences will be used in his compositions: agarwood (oud) from the south of Thailand; the famous ‘rose de Grasse’ (extremely rare because only 3 hectares are cultivated today); Ylang-Ylang from Jean Paul Guerlain’s ancient plantation in Mayotte … All of these products are sought for with just one purpose: to provide his clients with  the very best essences in the world, whatever the price!

Nicolas de Barry’s commitment: “Being wholly responsible for the creation and traditional fabrication of the exceptional perfumes that make up this collection, I guarantee that I have personally chosen the natural raw materials used and as such, that they can be qualified as being the rarest and the most beautiful essences in the world”. “I know my suppliers and I know exactly where my products come from”. “I go on site to verify their conformity to ensure that I only use the very best absolutes (rose, jasmine, tuberose ...) for my creations. Nevertheless, I have to forsake the organic label that does not allow them because of the traditional methods of extraction”.

We offer, by order only, the following perfumes that are traditionally prepared at a concentration corresponding to “Elic” (15%) but it is possible to order another concentration or just the pure concentrate.

Our 100% natural perfumes, composed following ancestral methods, are not necessarily in conformity with the regulation. Depending on the wanted concentration, doses change.  These perfumes on request are therefore sale as "artistic perfumes" : beyond olfactory pleasure, it is up to you to use it the way you prefer.

Our natural fragrances are available in three formats:

Prestige format: 150 mL in a Murano glass bottle engraved with 24-carat fine gold by the House of Gigli in Florence.

35 mL and 70 mL in "Atelier" bottles

( we can also order a "kit" of 7 of our natural perfumes; see in our shop : SAMPLES )

Our balms are offered in solid perfumes, in small 20ml boxes, in a 40% concentration.

ambre.png

Ambre Interdit: Amber is one of the mythical raw materials of perfumery. It is produced in the stomach of sperm whales that collectors pick up in secret on the beaches. It was formerly attributed to perfumes from ancient Atlantis ... Amber has always been more expensive than gold.

Now banned in perfumery (though the whale is not put to death for their amber, he spits these stones out of itself ...), we present a 100% natural fragrance , so off of trade, which has 60% amber  that Nicolas de Barry made himself with a ball of amber , which has been macerated for a quarter of a century.

Limited to 10 numbered and autographed bottles series for fans of "perfume lovers " ...

Rose de Grasse: The very famous “rose de mai” from Grasse. The reputation of the whole region and the perfumery profession is atttributed to "rose de mai" since the 17th century. There are only 3 hectares left in a very confidential production. Nicolas de Barry proposed a very pure version with almost one third of “rose de mai “ from Grasse absolute blended with notes of winter bergamot from Calabria – the most refined of all the bergamots – and natural ambergris.

Néroli d'Espagne: The essence of néroli comes from the distillation of the bigaradier flower (bitter orange) which grows in abundance in Spain and in Tunisia. It is frequently used in confectionery and in pharmacopoeia. Its hespéridée facet allows the composition of prestigious Eau de Colognes. The néroli owes its name to Princess Orsini, known under the name of "Princess of Néroli".

Osmanthus de Chine: This Chinese flower delivers a fruity-floral scent which is popular among perfumers today. For nearly three centuries, osmanthus flowers were used to perfume pastries, tea and wine in Asia. Osmanthus is also one of the main components, together with the rose, of the famous "Parfum de Canton". It can be used in a variety of harmonies with only one drawback : it is one of the most expensive marketed products.

Rose de Crimée: A famous ancient rose produced in Crimea and Bulgaria, used in perfumes made for the russian Imperial Family. While it was maintained and developed during the era of the USSR, it remained relatively unknown to occidental perfumery. More powdery than the Bulgarian or Turkish rose, it gives off an old-fashioned note that is very attractive for lovers of ancient perfumes. The composition that Nicolas de Barry proposes is made up of more than 40% of this rose complemented with hints of sandalwood, patchouli and a fresh note of winter bergamot.

Ylang de Mayotte: A great lover of natural raw materials, the famous perfumer Jean Paul Guerlain acquired a property in Mayotte in the Indian Ocean where he established a plantation of Ylang-Ylang. He managed to make the best Ylang-Ylang in the world but in a very limited quantity. Even though he sold his plantation, the plantation still remains. This very seductive, heady-fragranced flower emits powerful and fresh notes. The perfume offered associates Ylang-Ylang from Jean Paul Guelain’s plantation with delicate notes of bourbon vanilla.

Australian Sandalwood: Indian sandalwood being very scarce and altered, the Australian “Mount Romance” project offers a sandalwood that is not only ecological but also a great example of fair trade as it is produced in partnership with the local aborigines. As a result of research, different types of sandalwood have been produced by oleoresins' extraction that give off caramel-like aromas or even animal-like notes. Associated with the fragrant Chinese osmanthus, this sandalwood perfume is lightened by notes of bergamot and lemon from Calabria and Sicily.

jasminsambac.png

Jasmin Sambac de Guilin: In the south of China, two marvelous fragranced flowers are produced: osmathus and jasmine sambac. In ancient China, jasmine had a special type of aura: it was considered to be a symbol of purity. Olfactively, Chinese jasmine is less heady than the Egyptian or Indian variety but it is lighter and purer. In this perfume it is associated with a bouquet of citrus fruit scents.

jasmingrandiflorum.png

Jasmine Grandiflorum from India: In the south of India, in Karnataka, jasmines are picked at dawn and treated immediately. A floral explosion with incredible complexity.

We propose it as a solid perfume, in its purity of concrete, and in classical version, with a bouquet of citrus.

Eau Royale: As a tribute to the perfumes in Versailles highly prized by Louis XIV and Louis XV, Nicolas de Barry has reconstructed a historical perfume that is an hymn to the red orange and citrus fruits from Sicily, highlighted with orange blossom (the bitter orange flower) and essence of Shiuwood, a delicate Chinese wood.

myrrhe.png

Myrrhe d'Arabie: Myrrh is an aromatic gum resin produced by the myrrh tree (Commiphora myrrha) native to Asia and Africa. Harvested from the trunk of the tree from which it naturally oozes, this liquid resinous gum hardens in the air to form reddish-brown concretions.

Brought as a gift to Jesus by the Magi, it is the mystical perfume par excellence.

We propose it here associated with Australian Sandalwood...

oud du siam.png

Oud du Siam: Kyara is the name given in Japanese for the finest quality of agarwood that used to be reserved only for the emperor’s use. Originating from the forests in Southeast Asia, it is better known by its Arab name, “Oud”. This wood comes from a tree that occasionally secretes a fragrant resin. The Buddha considered this wood as being the perfume of Nirvana and the prophet Mahomet considered it as being the perfume of paradise; it has been used in perfumery since the time of the ancient Egyptians. It is one of the most mysterious raw material in perfumery, and the most expensive.

Our perfume is constructed around this powerful note, associated with sandalwood to create a very pure version of agarwood's essential oil (Aquilaria subintrega) from Thailand. See also our collection of natural Oud 100 %.

frangipane.png

Frangipane of India: The different varieties of plumeria give flowers with shades of yellow, pink and white. The flower is 5 cm in diameter and has five wide petals forming a spiral. The shrub owes its name to Mr. Frangipani. Nicknamed "flower of the temples", the frangipani flower has strong symbolism among Hindus and Buddhists.

We offer it as a solid fragrance in its purity of concreteness and in a classic version.

immortelle.png

Immortelle from Spain: The Immortal is a shrub of the Asteraceae family. Its Latin name "helichrysum" means "golden sun". The Immortelle is widespread around the Mediterranean because it loves the sun, dry and stony soils. These bright yellow flowers bloom from June to October.

If essential oil is appreciated in aromatherapy, we prefer the more powerful absolute with complex aromas. Here we propose an association with the dark note of bourbon vanilla .

We offer it in a solid fragrance in its purity of concrete and in a classic version.

vetiver.png

Vétiver Bourbon: Vetiver comes from the Tamil term "vettiveru" and is called "khus khus" in many parts of India, where it originated.

It is a one to two meter tall herbaceous plant found in tropical areas. In perfumery, the fine and long roots are used...

Introduced in many tropical countries, it is in Reunion Island that it is of the best quality, (it is called "Bourbon vetiver"), whose production is becoming increasingly rare.  It comes in the form of large green tufts, very invasive, whose roots grow vertically to great depths.

We propose it here associated with a bouquet of citrus fruits...

karokarounde-600.png

African Karo Karounde: Leptactina Senegambica is a shrub native to Guinea in the family Rubiaceae. Nicknamed the "shrub of rocks", it produces every year beautiful white flowers called karo karounde flowers.

Widely used in perfumery in the 1930s, it is now banned for regulatory reasons…

It is therefore a "disappeared perfume"...

We propose it here in a version associated with the Oud.

tubéreuse.png

Indian Tubéreuse: Tuberos or Polianthes Tuberosa is a herbaceous plant belonging to the genus Agave of the family Agavaceae.

Composed of a tuber with above by a stem bearing spikes of white tubular flowers, its flowering takes place in summer towards the end of July. It is one of the "stars" of perfumery: probably the most sensual of all the flowers sought by the "femme fatale"...

Here we propose it in the purity of its concrete or associated with the power of the Oud...
